The filing of candidacy files for the legislative elections in Senegal on July 31 ends this Sunday at midnight. A brand new coalition tabled its own on Saturday: The Alternative for a Breaking Assembly (AAR), formed around figures such as Thierno Alassane Sall of the “Republic of Values” party, Abdourahmane Diouf of the “Awalé” party, or even Thierno Bocoum, from the “Agir” movement.

Some are former deputies, like Cheikh Oumar Sy, or current parliamentarians like Théodore Chérif Monteil and Marième Soda Ndiaye. The coalition also includes a former judge, Ibrahima Hamidou Dème, personalities with varied backgrounds, but with common values, “ skill and virtue “Says Thierno Bocoum, spokesperson for the Alternative for an assembly of rupture. ” It is a shared patriotism. All these Senegalese, whose attachment to the Republic is recognized by all, have shown during their career that they truly care about the interests of the Senegalese and that their ambition is to bring about major changes to the National Assembly and to give him back his true power “, he develops.

A force of opposition, but also of “ proposition “. Faced with the presidential majority, other coalitions already exist, notably Yewwi Askan Wi around Ousmane Sonko and Khalifa Sall, or the Wallu Senegal coalition around former President Abdoulaye Wade’s PDS. But the Alternative for a Breaking Assembly wants to assert its difference. ” These are questions of approach and ideology. We can of course offer the populations the possibility of choosing which are the best profiles. »

After the legislative deadline, the new coalition, which remains open, already has its sights set on the presidential election of 2024, without excluding the possibility of primaries to choose a candidate.
