Remaining staff at a Ukrainian zoo trying to save animals during the war were eventually killed in a Russian attack.

According to foreign media such as CNN on the 20th local time, the Feldman Ecopark Zoo in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, issued a statement saying, “Two employees who were left for animals have died.”

The zoo said, “Even after the war began, the remaining staff to feed the animals went missing early last month and searched for them, but in the end they were found dead after being shot by Russian soldiers.”

He continued, “The deceased were wonderful and brave people. I will never forget their appearance,” he said. “I express my condolences to the bereaved family and friends.” “I believe that those who attacked our employees will surely be punished,” he said.

The zoo was in a situation where the remaining animals had no place to stay as the fence was damaged by Russian bombing. According to the zoo, wild animals such as lions and tigers may have to be euthanized. But after trying to find a temporary shelter, I was able to find a new home.

In a statement on the 20th, the zoo said, “Three wolves and five donkeys in danger of smuggling were confiscated from Ukrainian customs and brought back. I will definitely rescue even the last one.”
