Los wholesale prices slowed sharply a 5.4% in March and in the first quarter of the year it accumulated a 37% In front of one monthly inflation of the 11% and of 51,6% in the first three months of the year, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC).
Regarding the construction costs (ICC) in the Greater Buenos Aires Corresponding to March 2024, an increase of 8.1% was recorded compared to the previous month. This moves below the inflation rate but unlike wholesale prices, it marks an increase in the trend compared to February when it reached 6.4%.
The detail of the deceleration
Compared to February, the deceleration was of the order of 50%, with the February index marking 10.2% compared to 5.4% in March. In this way, the downward trajectory marks the fourth month of deceleration from the 54% that marked December 2023, 18% in January and 10.4 in February 2024.
The advance in wholesale prices was a consequence of the 6.2% increase in “Domestic Products”, partially offset by the 1.7% decrease in “Imported Products”. On the other hand, the general level of the Basic Domestic Wholesale Price Index (IPIB) showed an increase of 4.9% in the same period. In this case, the variation is explained by the 5.6% increase in “Domestic products”, partially offset by the 1.7% decrease in “Imported products”.
Likewise, the general level of the Basic Producer Price Index (IPP) registered an increase of 5.0% in the same period, as a consequence of the 5.1% increase in “Primary Products” and 5.0% in “Manufactured products and electrical energy”.
Regarding the main increases in the materials category during March, granite tables led with an increase of 14.9%, Glass 9.8%, cement, lime and plaster 9.6% and Elevators 7.8%. The “Labor” chapter, corresponding to March 2024, registers a monthly increase of 13.9%. This result arises as a consequence of an increase of 13.9% in “Wage labor” and 14.0% in “Labor subcontracts”.
