Requested by the parents of students and by the National Education, CO2 sensors in the classes are quite rare and difficult to obtain.

According to the Ministry of National Education, only 20% of primary classes are equipped with CO2 sensors. The figure is higher in middle and high schools according to the Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer. The latter considers, however, that this figure is still insufficient. The minister said on France Inter that CO2 sensors were the responsibility of communities.

The cost of these sensors is indeed a problem for communities. On average, to equip all the classes in a town of 30,000 inhabitants, they cost 8,000 euros. Delphine Labails, the mayor of Périgueux (Dordogne) declares that a large number of communities do not have the means to equip classrooms with CO2 sensors. While the government has implemented aid, most municipalities do not had not knowledge. Other departments, such as Sarthe, consider that the sensors C02 are unnecessary.
