1,500 surveys on the topics of death, mourning, burial and precautionary measures were carried out for the “Austria Death Report 2023”. Around seven out of ten respondents (68 percent) said that it was easier to talk to family about death today than it was years ago.
Another result of the report: The trend – away from the coffin and towards the urn – continues. 55 percent want a cremation, almost a third (31 percent) want a natural burial – this usually goes hand in hand with a cremation. The desire for more sustainability until death is probably also encouraging the rise of cremations.
