Should we tax the superprofits of companies that benefit from the inflationary context, oil companies in particular? On Wednesday June 29, 2022, the Minister Delegate for Europe, Clément Beaune, hinted that an effort would be requested from oil companies to lower prices at the pump. At the same time, Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy, affirmed that the taxation of superprofits was not necessarily the best solution. Why are energy players big winners?
