A larger number than in previous years of real estate brokers did not renew their brokerage license as of April 30.

Although this drop occurs each year at the deadline for renewal of dues, it is particularly marked this year.
“We are seeing a swing of the pendulum, which is due to the enthusiasm that there has been in recent years, i.e. in 2021, 2022. These were years when there was great interest in the brokerage profession. … There were many people who decided to try their hand at new training to become a broker, ”explains Guillaume Labarre, CEO of the Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers of Quebec, in an interview with Quebec morning.
Mr. Labarre is however not worried by this drop: “There are several people over the next few weeks who will reactivate their registration,” he thinks.
The enthusiasm that arose shortly after the pandemic waned, according to Mr. Labarre, when new brokers confronted the profession.
“Some people realize that it’s not easy to be brokers. Many hours of work, hours that are irregular, weekends, evenings, weekends. So it’s a profession that is intended for people who are really passionate about real estate, ”he explains.
