I wonder what the club was thinking when they took the Dutchman to a foreign training camp?

The multi-day saga with the detention of Spartak football player Quincy Promes has ended. Alas, not quite the way the red and white club would like. Now we can officially state that Quincy’s career has gone downhill.

And all because of senseless travel abroad.

The Dutch demanded Quincy’s extradition

The Dutch prosecutor’s office announced Promes’ arrest. It was she who demanded the extradition of the football player to the Netherlands. There he faces a seven-year prison sentence for drug smuggling and attempted murder.

Quincy spent his last days in Dubai. He flew there with Spartak for training camp, but did not return to Russia. The official reason is an accident caused by a football player. The team left the UAE without their foreign player. Promes spent several days in ignorance, although he did not lose heart – he went to clubs, lived in luxury hotels and recorded gangsta rap about prison. All this time, Dutch law enforcement officials were negotiating with the UAE, trying to achieve the extradition of the football player. “Spartak” resumed the season in the MIR RPL, and at the same time kept in touch with representatives of Quincy.

It’s reached red notice

Unfortunately for all those who sympathize with the “red-whites”, the Dutch got their way. Promes has been officially arrested and is in custody.

— Following constructive cooperation between the authorities of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Netherlands, a 32-year-old man living in Moscow was arrested in Dubai. The arrest was made on the basis of a red notice. The Netherlands will seek the man’s extradition. According to various media reports, the arrested man lived in a luxury hotel in Dubai. However, he was taken into custody thanks to the authorities of both countries, the Dutch prosecutor’s office reported on its official website.

An Interpol Red Notice asks law enforcement agencies around the world to find and apprehend a criminal. It is usually based on a court order or arrest warrant issued by the authorities of the requesting country. At the time of his arrival in Dubai, Promes was under a blue notice – this is the collection of additional information about the suspect in the crime. The color changes when a court decision finding a person guilty comes into force.

According to a number of insiders, there are only a few days left before Promes is extradited to the Netherlands. Now we are coordinating all legal procedures and exchanging documents.

The chance of being released is equal to the statistical error

Of course, now all fans have a question – why did Quincy go abroad at all? Have the leaders of Spartak really forgotten about his problems with the law? And why didn’t they assume that the Dutch would find any excuse to get to Promes? The former general director of the club, Evgeniy Melezhikov, did not understand this.

— Comments on this matter should be taken from the director of Spartak. Given the lower risks, last year I decided not to take it! “I have nothing to add now,” Melezhikov told Match TV.

Promes’ lawyers are now trying to clear their client with all their might. An appeal against the arrest has already been filed. But the chance of being released is equal to a statistical error. The charges brought against the Dutchman are too serious. Participation in drug trafficking and an attempt on a person’s life is not a minor accident.

By the way, insider Telegram channels report that Promes was fined for escaping from the scene of an ill-fated accident. But it looks like baby talk against the backdrop of all the problems. It seems that Quincy would pay a hundred or two hundred such fines, just to avoid being behind bars.

But Promes is truly a legendary player. There hasn’t been such a foreign player in Spartak and there won’t be for a long time. Even by the standards of all Russian football, which remembers the iconic Hulk, Vagner Love and Danny, Quincy is a megatop. But his career ended in the most tragic and absurd way possible.
