Why start-ups in Africa are struggling

The 7th edition of Emerging Valley, the summit for emerging start-ups, opens this Tuesday, November 28 in Aix-en-Provence, in the south of France. But everywhere in the world, start-ups – particularly in FinTech – are facing difficulties and African start-ups are no exception. Waves of layoffs and even bankruptcies are frequently announced. Some see too many risks taken by investors, others the lack of seriousness of certain “young shoots”. Charlotte Cosset tried to understand why they are struggling.
