Why the MSC shipowner is diversifying into medicine

The Geneva group Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has teamed up with South African billionaire Johann Rupert, owner of the luxury group Richemont, to acquire Mediclinic International, which notably owns the Hirslanden private clinics in Switzerland. Accepted on August 4, the offer valued the clinic operator at 3.7 billion pounds (4.2 billion francs).
