Surely you know the house. It resembles a mansion, has a charming volume and is located at Ioan Zalomit str., no. 12, Bucharest. It has a gazebo, wide terraces facing Cișmigiu, secret doors, a fairytale interior and an imposing entrance. Basically, the whole Cișmigiu park seems to be his garden.

The spectacular building has a name. It’s called “Casa Istrate Micescu”

Lawyer, politician and famous university professor, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Goga-Cuza government (1937-1938), Istrate Micescu was part of the Romanian Commission that represented our country within the Little Entente, known as the Balkan Understanding.

Tudor Arghezi called him “Prince of Romanian Lawyers” and “Absolute Master of the Romanian Bar”.

Istrate Micescu was, however, a personality with lights and shadows: Micescu is the jurist who drew up in 1938 the Constitution by which King Carol II established a real personal authoritarian regime in Romania.

The Istrate Micescu House has a special history. which overlaps with the recent history of Romania. Read his whole story on B365.ro
