Wiener-Wohnen-Podcast #53: Animal poems from the city, the Vienna Museum and the municipal building | City vienna

2024-02-17 08:32:06

Vienna (OTS) – We encounter animals all over Vienna: crocodiles on facades, ponies in community buildings, a whale in the Vienna Museum. The author Michael Hammerschmid gave the animals a voice in his book “stopptanzstill!” (Picus Verlag) and invites you to explore the city with his poems.

Since March 2021, the Wiener Wohnen Podcast has been highlighting a wide range of topics from municipal buildings. Stefanie Sargnagel, Toni Polster and Chris Lohner were in focus, as were the Stones of Remembrance association, Creative Spaces Vienna, a service for activating vacant properties and the community building youth novel “Come down!”

#53 – Animal poems from the city of Vienna

The current, 53rd episode is dedicated to the book “stopptanzstill!” by Michael Hammerschmid. The author has breathed life into animals from our city, the Vienna Museum and the municipal building in 40 poems. Wiener Wohnen podcaster Markus Egger met him in the newly renovated Vienna Museum and chatted with him about, among other things, the whale from the museum, the ponies from the Einstein farm and many other animals. Peter Stuiber from the Vienna Museum described a lot about the creation of the book and the intention behind it. “Stop dance still!” wants to introduce children to poetry and introduce them to the animals in the city. An episode about art in public spaces, poetry and the Vienna Museum – including a reading by the author.
