Spain – The management of the Spanish club Barcelona is seeking to realize the dream of signing Norwegian star Erling Haaland, the striker of the English Manchester City football team, during the 2025 summer transfer period.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, Robert Lewandowski, the Barcelona striker, will continue with the “Blaugrana” for another season, especially after he recently rejected 100 million euros from the Saudi League.
She pointed out that it is difficult for Lewandowski to be with Barcelona in the next season, as he will be 37 years old, so the administration is planning to include a new scorer, and Haaland is the main deal.
Barcelona is betting that Haaland may want to leave Manchester City in the summer of 2025, due to the possibility of the club being subjected to sanctions from the English Federation as a result of financial violations, in addition to the possibility of the departure of its Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola, due to the expiration of his contract in the summer after next.
Barcelona also wants to benefit from the good relationship between club president Joan Laporta and Brazilian Rafaela Pimenta, Haaland’s agent.
In addition, Barcelona will be close to recovering economically and achieving significant financial income next summer, coinciding with the opening of the new “Camp Nou” stadium.
“Mundo Deportivo” revealed that the meeting between Pimenta and Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, last February 29, witnessed discussion of many topics, most notably the future contract with Haaland.
The newspaper reported that if Haaland was obliged to choose between Real Madrid and Barcelona in the summer of 2025, Barcelona would have the advantage.
She explained: “Because Haaland knows that he will be the most prominent star in the Catalan club, unlike his joining Merengue in the presence of a colleague the size of Kylian Mbappe.”
The newspaper added: “Haaland also realizes that wearing the Barca shirt and having Mbappe at Real Madrid would repeat the historic duel between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in El Clásico.”
