Williams Dávila believes that elections in Venezuela would stop the migration crisis

Oppositionist Williams Dávila assured this Sunday that the call for “free presidential elections” would put an end to “the tragedy” faced by citizens who have had to migrate from the country.

“Only with free presidential elections will the tragedy that millions of citizens face today be put to an end. That they have had to leave the country looking for better opportunities and quality of life,” said Dávila, quoted in a press release from the opposition.

Dávila’s statements took place in Bogotá (Colombia), during an activity aimed at the Venezuelan diaspora.

The former parliamentarian insisted that it is necessary to promote an “electoral process that returns democracy” to the Caribbean country. He assured that he trusts that “international allies, led by the United States, remain firm in the institutional rescue of Venezuela.”

Regarding migrants, he recalled the importance of making the “tragedy of the humanitarian emergency” visible. Which, he assured him, is lived in Venezuela and that should lead to the creation of public policies. This is so that Venezuelans are treated as refugees in the countries that receive them.

In addition, Dávila referred to the opposition’s struggle in Venezuela and stressed the importance of “advancing on a front of common actions.”

“Venezuela deserves and demands the breadth and frankness with which the resistance worked to get rid of Pérez Jiménez,” he said, referring to the overthrow of former Venezuelan President Marcos Pérez Jiménez in 1958.
