Williams F1 Alex Albon “Midfield is frustratingly competitive”[F1-Gate .com]

Alex Albon admits that the 2022 midfield battle is “frustratingly competitive”, making it difficult for the Williams F1 team to consistently join the battle.

At the F1 Australian Grand Prix, Alex Albon finished in 10th place with a bold strategy of running 57 laps in a 58-lap race with the same hard tires. He gave the Williams F1 team his first point of the season.

The Williams F1 team appears to have made little progress since last season, with Alex Albon and teammate Nicholas Latifi scoring only one point from Albon in the opening three rounds at Williams FW44.

However, Alex Albon claimed that Williams F1 actually made a big step in 2022, but admits that the step is not as big as the rapid progress of the Haas F1 Team and Alfa Romeo.

“We’re frustratedly competing with Alpha and Haas taking that step and joining the midfield battle,” Alexander Albon told F1 Natin.

“We’re not far from the top than last year. We look like we’re having a hard time because they’ve joined the group, but Alpha and Haas did a great job.”

Despite using old hard tires, Alexander Albon says he was able to pull away his rivals later in the race and follow the midfield-leading McLaren car’s tail end.

“It was great to be able to fight them, and when I was in that group of cars, I was mostly looking at the rearview mirrors in one part, but soon I lost sight of them and pulled them apart.’Okay, let’s go! We’re widening the gap with them! ”And it was really fun.”

Alex Albon’s points earning only helps him settle into a new team after facing the heavy burden of replacing George Russell in Williams F1.

Alex Albon, who spent a season in the Red Bull F1 simulator for Max Verstappen to win the F1 World Champion, has solidified his position as the lead driver for Williams F1 ahead of Nicholas Latifi.

“I’m in a different position than when I was in Red Bull, and above all, I feel like I’m a little more team leader,” continued Alexander Albon.

“I feel like I have to make the most of my experience and develop a car with Nicky. It feels like it took me a year to mature. In 2020 and 2019, that’s it. I think I couldn’t do it. “

“I feel like I’m in a better position now and I’m enjoying it. It’s a new challenge for me.”
