Firefighters fought this Monday important forest fires in different parts of the mountains of Córdoba with five main outbreaks in Tanti, San Clemente, Barranca Yaco, Potrero de Garay and Balnearia.
The climate panorama complicated the firefighters’ tasks with high temperatures that exceeded 30 degrees and a persistent north wind.
One of the most important accidents occurred between the towns of Tanti and Cabalango, where a 27-year-old young man was arrested after admitting that he had started the fire by lighting a bonfire to make coffee.
The fire spread rapidly and became widespread in the vegetation in the area, driven by the wind. On the other hand, several homes had to be evacuated in an area surrounding the town of Icho Cruz due to the flames.
The provincial Secretary of Risk Management, Claudio Vignetti, requested, in dialogue with the radio Chain 3that if the firefighters did not arrive in time, “people would self-evacuate” and come down from the high areas to the town.
In addition to the ground combat task, they also do it by air with three hydrant planes.
Vignetta had stated earlier that the meteorological panorama that is presented for today Monday “is very complicated due to the intense north wind and for the temperatures “That will be above 32 degrees.”
In that sense, he had warned that due to these conditions, “the risk of fire is extreme.”

The Secretary of Risk Management of the Province, Claudio Vignetta, reported four outbreaks of strong fires in the province.
The first between Tanti and Cabalango, a very active area, where volunteer firefighters from the entire region and Punilla work, with two hydrant planes. The fire crossed into the neighborhood of 400 homes in the jurisdiction of Carlos Paz.

Finally, a fire was reported in Confluxjurisdiction of Potrero de Garay, where a helicopter was sent.
