According to reports, Microsoft has acknowledged that Windows 10 may have issues printing to USB printers. The problem manifests itself in the following: duplicates of installed printers are displayed in the operating system, or documents sent for printing simply do not print through printers connected via USB.

What caused the mentioned problem is still unknown. Probably, it might appear following installing one of the recent updates for the software platform. Microsoft does not specify the origin of the bug, but asks users to submit problem reports through the Feedback Hub app.

As a temporary fix for the problem with duplicating installed printers, users are advised to open the “Printers and Scanners” section in the OS settings. If it turns out that a duplicate printer has appeared there, you can try to print using it. If you want to print through the original printer installation, then you should open the properties of the duplicate printer, go to the “Ports” tab and pay attention to which port is used. After that, you need to follow the same steps in the settings of the original installation and specify the same port that is used in the duplicate. If following that the original printer starts working, then the duplicate can be deleted.

To resolve the problem that completely loses the ability to print via connected USB printers, it is recommended that you try updating the print driver or reinstalling the printer. However, this does not guarantee that the problem will be solved.

According to the source, Microsoft is working on a fix for a bug that causes difficulties with printing to USB printers in Windows 10. It is not yet known when it will become public.
