Windows 11: Update KB5020044 released

Microsoft has a new, optional update (KB5020044 rev.2) released for Windows 11. The preview update is part of the monthly “C” update for November 2022 and allows administrators to test fixes that will be distributed to all users with Patch Tuesday in December 2022. After installation, the new build number will be 22621.900. The update for ARM64 and x64 based systems brings some important fixes, improvements and changes:

This non-security update includes quality improvements:

Shows the total storage capacity of all your OneDrive subscriptions. You can also view total storage on the Accounts page in the Settings app.

Fixes a known issue affecting the Input Method Editor (IME). Certain applications may become unresponsive. This occurs when you use keyboard shortcuts to change the input mode of the IME.

Addresses an issue that causes File Explorer to stop working. This occurs when you close context menus and menu items.

Windows 11 Services Stack Update – 22621.754: This update includes quality improvements for the Servicing Stack, the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing Stack Updates (SSU) ensure you have a stable and reliable servicing stack for your devices to receive and install Microsoft updates.

There will be no non-security pre-release versions of Windows 10 or Windows 11 in December. Pre-releases typically take place during the third week of the month. As usual, there will be a security update in December.
