Like every year, the developers of Wine have just released the new version of their baby. Remember that Wine transcodes Windows calls into Unix calls and DirectX calls into OpenGL/Vulkan calls. Wine just upgraded to 8.0 and this eighth version includes a battery of optimizations and improvements that should help you play more games in better conditions. We just have to wait for CodeWeavers and Valve to do their grub to use it to release a new version of Proton to enjoy on the Steam Deck.
