Wingo (Swisscom) charges 5G francs/month. One more mistake?

Dear Wingo (Swisscom) 5G!

Since the founder of Wingo no longer pilots this virtual operator, we sometimes have the impression that he is looking for his way or is completely lost. Last episode, the 5G option at 10 francs per month launched this week. A nonsense when this kind of product has largely disappeared among its competitors?

At least that is what the undersigned thinks; He is not the only one. Indeed, how can an operator like Wingo, which has positioned itself on simplicity, multiply this kind of option or limit? Especially since the difference is debatable on the Swisscom network, owner of this cheap brand…

Indeed, except in special cases, 4G+ is sufficient for most users. Gains in throughput or responsiveness today seem questionable. Let’s be clear, for basic use, like with Wingo, such an option seems to make little sense… And I’m not the only one to think so.

Below in italics the opinion of an important actor of the seraglio:

I understand traders are trying to make more money with new options. The problem is that they failed to launch innovative and differentiating options that would justify their price.

For me, 5G is not an option from the operators, Swisscom, Sunrise, Salt, but a normal evolution of the technology “driven” by the OEMs, Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, etc.

So why a price increase? It’s more a question of survival, an obligation dictated by competition, competition. If you don’t have it, then you die. So it’s not up to the consumer to pay for the survival or the competitive development of operators.

For years, mobile phone subscriptions have been steadily declining; yet we went from 2G to 3G and then to 4G. Why raise prices for the 5G option?

A little test before canceling?

My advice, if you should notice occasional slowdowns on the Swisscom network, nothing prevents you from testing 5G for a limited period. Perhaps you could notice small differences in certain places, but it is not a certainty.

After this little test, do not hesitate to terminate this expensive option, always sold at this price by all operators. Surprising this similarity? In any case, all operators will probably one day be forced to migrate their plans towards technological agnosticism…
