Snowfall causes around thirty accidents in Vaud
Wednesday was a rough day on the Vaud roads, due to heavy snowfall, which covered the canton with a white coat.
The heavy snowfall that fell on Wednesday morning caused around thirty accidents on all Vaud roads, the cantonal police told Keystone-ATS. No injuries are to be reported. The road network was severely disrupted from 6:30 a.m. until around midday.
Many vehicles also got in the way, creating slowdowns, disruptions and even traffic jams, summarized a spokesperson for the Vaud police. The situation gradually calmed down from noon.
In the capital, the public transport network in the Lausanne region (tl) was also disrupted on Wednesday morning, according to a spokesperson. Due to heavy snowfall, two lines on the tops of the city had to be removed. Everything went back to normal during the afternoon, according to him.
The m2 metro suffered two short interruptions, including a voluntary one to clear snow in open areas. Finally, on the LEB railway line, traffic was temporarily interrupted between Romanel and Cheseaux due to a truck immobilized on the tracks at a level crossing, again according to tl.
