Wirtschaftsbund welcomes new ÖGK pilot project in Vienna and Lower Austria

ÖGK and Medical Association agree: vacant statutory health insurance positions are temporarily managed using hourly fees

Vienna (OTS) “Despite good medical care in Austria, there are temporary problems in filling positions for doctors. We are therefore all the more pleased that the joint innovation project “Doctors’ Provision Society” has now been launched by the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) and Medical Association for the federal states of Vienna and Lower Austria. This allows us to take a further step towards better medical care for our insured persons,” says Moritz Mitterer, Chairman of the Employer Curia at the ÖGK Annual General Meeting.

Doctors can look following locations on an hourly basis that cannot be filled for a long time. The doctors can limit themselves to their core activity – the medical care of the patients – the organization is taken over by the doctors’ on-call service. For patients, there is no noticeable difference to a contract doctor’s practice. In this way, the ÖGK can recruit doctors for the areas of general medicine and paediatrics who would otherwise not be available for the cash register system. A total of 9 locations in Vienna and Lower Austria are planned for the pilot phase.
