A ₦500 Billion Wellness Vision Breaks Ground in Kuje

Usulo City, a ₦500 billion master-planned residential and mixed-use development billed as Africa’s first wellness city, has been officially unveiled by Wisdom Kwati Smart City PLC in the Kuje satellite district of Abuja. Spanning approximately 300 hectares, the expansive project merges residential neighborhoods with commercial, healthcare, hospitality, and recreational infrastructure as part of an integrated urban strategy.

The launch unfolds as Kuje transitions from a quiet peripheral district into a high-potential investment corridor, propelled by shifting residential demand and renewed government interventions. Recent infrastructure investments executed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration have substantially cut travel times and enhanced overall connectivity between Kuje and central Abuja. Key transport arteries including the Idu–Zuba Road, the Airport–Kuje Road, and the Kuje–Gwagwalada Dual Carriageway have fortified the area’s logistical appeal for long-term real estate development.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Wisdom Kwati Smart City Chairman Wisdom Kwati emphasized that regional growth metrics and infrastructure readiness guided the firm’s choice of location.

“Every major city reaches a defining moment when infrastructure, vision and private investment begin to align. We believe Kuje is approaching that point, and Usulo City represents our contribution to shaping what comes next,” Wisdom Kwati stated.

Ten Phases of Comprehensive Infrastructure

Structured across ten distinct phases, the master plan incorporates a wide array of amenities. Future residents and commercial tenants will have access to residential communities, a golf course, an artificial beach, shopping and entertainment venues, educational facilities, specialized healthcare services, an independent power plant, and dedicated hospitality assets.

Rather than focusing solely on volumetric housing delivery, the developer anchored the architectural and spatial layout in wellness principles. Managing Director Zara Kwati noted that the project is engineered to sustain economic vitality alongside domestic comfort.

“Cities are no longer measured only by the number of houses they deliver. They are increasingly judged by how well they support businesses, families and communities over time. That thinking has shaped every stage of our planning for Usulo City,” Zara Kwati said.
