In the details, it became clear through investigations that Gerard Gylland, 77 years old, concluded an agreement with his wife, Elaine Gylland, asking her to end his life if his deteriorating health did not improve.
The police indicated that Gilland’s health had become very poor, so his wife brought the gun to the hospital in Florida, went to his room and shot him.
According to the chief of the Daytona Beach Police Department, the wife planned to shoot herself as well, but was unable to do so.
When the police arrived at Gerrard’s room, his wife refused to drop the gun. After a confrontation for hours, the police managed to detain her, and patients and hospital staff were not threatened.
