With a double from Scamacca, Atalanta beats Empoli 3-0 in Serie A

ROME (AP) — Gianluca Scamacca scored a double and assisted on another as Atalanta beat Empoli 3-0 on Monday to climb to fourth place in Serie A.

Scamacca gave the visitors the lead with a cheeky goal following five minutes of the game. He took Ademola Lookman’s pass and sent it with his heel between the goalkeeper’s legs.

The former West Ham player later became a supplier. He helped Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners extend Atalanta’s lead.

Scamacca capped a dominant performance by adding his team’s third goal six minutes into the restart.

With this result, Atalanta rose to fourth position behind leaders Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan. Empoli remains second to last.
