With a four-year delay, the breakthrough for the conversion of the Monastery of Chora into a mosque – 2024-05-14 00:54:43

Shots were fired against the government and the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, by the president of the Democrats, Andreas Loverdos, for the management of the conversion of the Monastery of Chora, in Constantinople, into a mosque and the admission of Greece to UNESCO.

“With a delay of four full years, while Erdogan’s decision was known, the Greek approach to UNESCO for the conversion of the Monastery of Chora into a mosque. They do not foresee it and prevent it because they heal it. We sincerely hope that it is not too late for the fate of this monastery”, underlines, in his statement, Mr. Loverdos.

Earlier this morning, speaking to ANT1, he emphasized that “we wish the best for our country. But there are possible answers by Erdogan on the issue of the Monastery of the Country that will be a defeat for the Greek prime minister”, keeping a clear distance from the actions of the government. At the same time, the president of the Democrats criticized Mr. Mitsotakis, stressing: “”Unnecessary” Rama’s visit, “unnecessary” Erdogan’s move according to the prime minister. I sense embarrassment. For them they are useful. Let him find another adjective to describe her.”

Regarding voting in the European elections, Mr. Loverdos pointed out that “voters do not have ownership. The Democrats have united in the space of the center and we will be a catalyst for others and a fuse for others. We are a safe vote for those who in the past chose either ND or PASOK or other parties”.
