Manchester City reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup by defeating Bristol City from the second level, “Championship”, 3-0, in the fifth round, on Tuesday.
Manchester City Spanish coach Pep Guardiola rested his Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, and replaced him with Argentine Julian Alvares, in addition to Phil Foden, in the place of Jack Grealish in the right wing position.
Foden managed to open the scoring, taking advantage of a pass from Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez, after 7 minutes had passed.
Then Foden added the second, with a pass from Alvares, who was crowned world champion with his country in the World Cup in Qatar, a quarter of an hour before the end of the match.
Soon, Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne finished the scoring for City in the 81st minute.
City is still fighting on 3 fronts, as it ranks second in the English Premier League, and snatched a 1-1 draw from Leipzig in the first leg of the final price of the Champions League.
Blackburn from the “Championship” league achieved a heavy-caliber surprise by removing Leicester City, the holder of the competition title in 2021, by defeating it 2-1 in its own backyard.
Leicester City suffered a lot at the beginning of the season, and its coach, Brandon Rodgers, faced great pressure, but the team achieved two remarkable results in the league recently, by defeating its host Aston Villa 4-2, then at home to Tottenham 4-1, but it returned and fell in the last two matches in the league also against Manchester United. 0-3, then Arsenal 0-1.
Brighton returned from Stoke City, winning with a clean goal scored by Evan Ferguson (30).
Fulham beat Leeds United with two clean goals scored by Portuguese Joao Paulinha (21) and Manor Solomon (56).
Four matches will also be held in the fifth round on Wednesday, most notably the one between Manchester United, the recent League Cup champion, and its guest, West Ham.
