With colored chairs, the Medellin metro celebrates Pride Day

The Medellin metro joined the celebration of International LGBT Pride Day. In one unit of each of the modes of transport (train, tram, cable, bus) He painted 12 chairs with the colors that represent the population.

“In the framework of Metro Culture, we recognize the different ways of loving and living. In the Metro we travel all the people”, said the transport company on Twitter.

According to the Medellin Metro, they have been working on strengthening skills for their service personnel to provide better travel experiences: 539 people have attended the training processes carried out between 2021 and 2022.

In Bogotá, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Business Administration of the The Externado University held a meeting on Tuesday where the new perspectives of inclusive tourism were discussed, with the participation of ProColombia, the Chamber of Lgbtiq Merchants of Colombia and the District Institute of Tourism.

“Latin America and especially Colombia is seen by travelers from the United States as a destination for family travel. In addition, the most important market for the country to attract travelers from the community is Mexico,” said María José Silva, manager of Vacation Tourism at ProColombia.

One of the conclusions of the meeting was to work in other cities and territories of the country to offer an attractive tourist route for the Lgbtiq population, focused on destinations that stand out for their cultural diversity.

In honor of the celebration of the International Lgbtiq Pride Day, different countries advanced different events.

In Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, for example, some buildings and monuments were decorated with the colors of the rainbow. The center of Lima, Peru, was also dressed in the flag: Peruvians celebrated 20 years of activism of the Pride March collective in Peru.

In Europe the last few days have also been marked by the celebration of diversity. On Saturday the march was held in Paris: the different floats that paraded sent messages of solidarity with the Lgbtiq people of Ukraine. In Portugal they marched that day.

The film director Pedro Almodóvar was awarded at the Arcoíris de Igualdad awards awarded by the Ministry of Equality of Spain for his career that has allowed the visibility, support and defense of the rights of this population.
