With Diab’s statements – Al-Ahly and Zamalek qualify for the Champions League… and Pyramids to the Confederation

Al-Ahly and Zamalek qualified for the African Champions League next season, after Pyramids tied with Future, according to statements by Ahmed Diab, president of the Professional Clubs Association.

Ahmed Diab had confirmed in previous television statements that the teams qualified for the African Champions League and the African Confederation Cup next season will be decided according to two methods.

Diab clarified that if the next June 30th is reached, and the clubs are equal in the number of matches they have played, and there are no matches postponed for any team, the participating African teams will be determined by the schedule that exists at that time.

In the event that any of the competing teams have postponed matches on June 30, and the teams are not equal in the number of matches they have played, only the results of the first round will be considered.

The Association of Clubs, according to Diab’s statements, will ask the Confederation of African Football to give it a deadline until next July 5, so that Al-Ahly will play its only postponed match in the first round, which will be against El-Gouna, thus all matches in the first half of the season have been completed.

In the first round of this season, Al-Ahly played only 15 matches, winning 11 of them, drawing in 3 matches, and receiving one defeat, bringing its score of points to 36 pointswith two matches postponed for him against El Gouna and Eastern Company.

As for Zamalek, it played all its matches in the first round with 17 matches, winning 13 of them, drawing 2 and losing two, bringing its total to 41 points. As for Pyramids, it played 17 matches, winning 11 of them, drawing 3, receiving 3 defeats, and reached Score of points to 36 points.

Thus, Al-Ahly and Pyramids are equal in the number of points in the first round, even if the red genie fails to win their two postponed matches, but the preference will be for the red genie, due to its victory in the direct confrontation with three clean goals, with its superiority in goal difference and the number of goals scored.

It is noteworthy that Pyramids failed to reach the African Champions League throughout its history, as it participated in the Confederation Cup 3 times in a row, and lost in the first in the final match against Nahdet Berkane, and in the second in the semi-final against Raja, and the third in the quarter-final against TP Mazembe.
