The Japanese government on Friday urged residents and industrial sectors across Tokyo to conserve electricity consumption during July and August to ensure stable energy supplies during the summer peak, but did not set any targets.

On the other hand, the electricity sector in Japan seeks to contribute to achieving the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, by using low- or no-emission fuels, such as hydrogen and ammonia, in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 46 percent, compared to 2013-2014 levels. .
Japan plans to burn ammonia and hydrogen fuels in power plants, at a combined rate of 1 percent, by the fiscal year from April 2030 to March 2031.
