With Vaca Muerta as the axis, Massa analyzed YPF projects together with González

Vaca Muerta, transportation of hydrocarbons, LNG, renewables and investments were the main topics that analyzed the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, in a meeting that was held today together with the president of YPF, Pablo González. They reviewed the milestones reached by the oil company flag last year and the projects for this and the coming years.

YPF closed 2022 with an investment of more than 4,000 million dollars and a jump in production of 9%. For this 2023, disbursements are expected to be higher in order to finance various energy projects.

“To generate the energy that the country needs, and turn Argentina into an oil and gas exporter, providing foreign currency to finance the development of its economy,” YPF said.

Among the topics that were discussed, it was highlighted the advances in the work to set up the Trasandino Pipeline (OTASA) that will allow the export of oil to Chile and Pacific markets. It has an extension of 427 kilometers from Puesto Hernández in Neuquén to the ENAP Refinery in Biobío Chile.

For his part, Pablo González explained the details of a key work for the export of crude oil such as the project called “Vaca Muerta Sur” with an estimated investment of 1,200 million dollars and an execution period of two years.

The objective is to unite the company’s most productive areas of Vaca Muerta with Punta Colorada in the province of Río Negro, through an oil pipeline of about 700 kilometers. In addition, the construction of a storage terminal and the installation of two monobuoys for the loading of large ships are planned.

Both analyzed the progress of the LNG project that YPF and Petronas seek to develop in the country with an initial investment of 10,000 million dollars and a final production capacity of 19 MTPA (million tons per year).

As part of Petronas’ interest in the country, a few weeks ago Pablo González received the new CEO of Petronas E&P Argentina, Nazri Idzlan Malek, where they had the opportunity to continue with the analysis of this project that will make Argentina a net exporter of LNG from the development of Vaca Muerta, the second unconventional gas reserve in the world.

In addition, with YPF Luz, the company ranks as the second generator of renewable energy in the country with an installed capacity of 400 MW and advances with the start-up of its first solar park in the province of San Juan, among other investments.

With YPF Litio it began its first exploratory project in the province of Catamarca together with CAMYEN. Finally, it inaugurated with Y-TEC, and together with the Ministry of Science and Technology, CONICET and the National University of La Plata, the first lithium battery plant, which will allow the development of the technological package to add value to the production of this mineral in the country.
