“Without my steering wheel, a gamer’s reflex, the shock would have been fatal”

“That day, I should have died at Froyennes”. These words, lying in a “carte blanche” in the form of a resolutely “positive” outlet in the aftermath of this terrible road accident, Clément Rosseel still affirms them today. Our summer series on the “miraculous” led us to Comines, to meet this father whose incredible reflex, “a ‘gamer’ steering wheel” as he describes it with a smile, has no doubt helped to avoid a real tragedy, on June 7, 2020.

“That day, we met in Houtem, where my mother lives, with our family, whose members are somewhat scattered across Wallonia: La Louvière, Ath, Sambreville…”, remembers Clément. “At the time, I was in charge of communication for the commune of Châtelet, and we had spent the day in my region of origin. When returning home, we crossed the road of a… ghost car on the highway, in Froyennes, at the Q8 station. My brother, who was driving ahead of me, saw this vehicle driving at high speed on “our” 3rd lane. My sister, who was following us, saw everything about our terrible crash. At the wheel of my Toyota Auris, accompanied by my wife and our then 5-year-old daughter, I found myself face to face with this phantom driver and despite this reflex swerve, the collision was inevitable. »

>> Clément still had broken leg and has just come out of a long revalidation: “I remember everything, in detail. »

>> Clément says: “Since then, we have completely changed our lives. »

>> He has already escaped death several times
: “I almost died at 15 in Africa. »
