Chairman Alexander Dumreicher-Ivanceanu: Film expert is at the head of the film policy department

Vienna (OTS) The film expert Peter Schernhuber has now been appointed head of the “Film” department in the Federal Ministry for Art, Culture, Public Service and Sport (BMKÖS). “I would like to congratulate Peter Schernhuber on this appointment and wish him all the best and every success in his new role. As a profound expert on the film industry and filmmaking in Austria, Peter Schernhuber is an excellent appointment,” emphasizes Alexander Dumreicher-Ivanceanu, Chairman of the Association of the Film and Music Industry in the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKÖ): “I am pleased that Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler and State Secretary Andrea Mayer made an excellent decision. With Peter Schernhuber, a responsible person has been appointed who has all the professional prerequisites for Austria as a film location to be able to look ahead at a professional level in cultural and economic policy matters.”

In this important function, Peter Schernhuber succeeds Barbara Fränzen, who has retired and was awarded the Golden Medal of Merit of the Republic of Austria for her successful work and her services to the interests of the Austrian film industry.

“My thanks go to the outgoing directors of Diagonale – the festival of Austrian film – Peter Schernhuber and Sebastian Höglinger, for the trusting cooperation and support for the film industry. They made the Diagonale what it is today, a place of enthusiasm for film and for experiencing cinema together. From June 2023, Claudia Slanar and Dominik Kamalzadeh will succeed Diagonale’s long-standing management duo. As the legal lobby of the film and music industry, we look forward to a future and trusting cooperation with the new commercial and artistic management of the festival from 2024 to 2027. The Association of the Film and Music Industry will continue to prove to be a reliable partner,” says Dumreicher -Ivanceanu in conclusion. (PWK105)
