The women’s World Cup celebrated its premiere in the Villach Alpine Arena a year ago, receiving much attention and being showered with praise. This year the elite are returning to the Drau. Last year’s double winner, Eva Pinkelnig, got going once more just in time for the Villach competitions. After a knee injury, she recently made her comeback on the “Two Nights Tour” in Germany, where she finished fourth in Garmisch and then promptly celebrated victory in Oberstdorf. Before today’s main competition, the qualification starts at 10 a.m., Pinkelnig is eager to return to Villach. “It is an incredibly well-organized competition. “I also hope that, like last year, a lot of people will come and cheer us on,” says the 35-year-old.
