workers demand light on alleged embezzlement case

Tivaouane, March 3 (APS) – The workers of the Mame Abdou Aziz Dabakh hospital “demand” that “all the light” be shed on a supposed embezzlement of 60 million FCFA which has been splattering for four months the service of the accounting agency of the health establishment.

”We demand that all light be shed on this embezzlement at the accounting agency. We met management, but the explanations it served us does not convince us not,” said Sidy Ndoye, secretary general of the departmental section of the Single Union of Health Workers (Sutsas), during a sit-in on Wednesday.

Workers sporting red armbands say it is “with a heavy heart” that they start talking about diversion, instead of addressing performance challenges or raising the standard of their hospital.

Cheikh Abdou Khadre Dieylani Dieng, president of the Tivaouane Debout movement, who took part in the si-in, noted that his structure has espoused the fight for the revelation of the truth around this affair which has been going on for four months.

“In 2017, we managed to equip the oxygen plant with a scanner, not to mention the rehabilitation of the buildings behind it. Diverting taxpayers’ money by leaving (stranded) dynamic staff is not a good thing,” said Mr. Dieng indignantly.

The workers of the Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh Hospital have shown themselves determined to intensify the fight, if nothing is done to elucidate this case.

Questioned on the subject by the APS, the director of the Bineta Diop Badiane hospital says she is waiting for the report from the Ministry of Finance and Budget. “I cannot comment on a case that is still pending”, she noted, not without adding: “what I consider to be the only novelty in this case is the assignment of the accountant”.
