Workers’ Strike at Brewery Over Job Elimination Sparks Discontent

2024-01-22 18:28:00

The trigger was the announcement of the elimination of a specific position in production, which will have to be taken over by other workers. “There was no discussion, no negotiation,” said ACV secretary Sander Mouton. “This decision means that a certain number of jobs will go down the drain (…). For the workers, this news is unacceptable, they who are already experiencing a high workload. Brewers have (therefore) finally decided to disengage.”

According to Mr. Mouton, the strike would mainly affect the production department. Several dozen people reportedly participated in this movement of discontent.

It is not yet known whether the action will continue on Tuesday. A meeting is planned for tomorrow followingnoon with management.
