Working in kindergarten: Information day at bafep21

Vienna (OTS) – The future of the city goes to kindergarten! The Educational Institute for Elementary Education of the City of Vienna (bafep21) offers training in the area of elementary education with the “CHANGE” college and the school for assistant teachers, thus making it possible to actively shape the future.

The next information day will take place in Vienna-Floridsdorf at Patrizigasse 2 on January 19th from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. During this time, anyone interested can find out more about the requirements, the different training courses and everyday working life in the kindergarten. Teachers and students are happy to answer any questions you may have.

“We invite interested people to get an idea of the exciting, diverse and practice-oriented training in the elementary education sector at bafep21 on January 19th,” said Karin Broukal, head of the City of Vienna’s kindergarten department and Nicole Kalteis, director of bafep21.

The focus of bafep21 is on adult education. The two training courses for elementary educators and assistant educators are characterized by a high level of theory-practice transfer. This means that students can get to know the educational process in kindergarten right from the start, apply theoretical knowledge from lessons and later actively help shape educational processes. These training models are particularly attractive for those changing careers because they are supported by AMS and waff.

Colleague “CHANGE”

The BAfEP college “CHANGE” is a two and a half year training program to become an elementary educator. During the training there is the opportunity to receive support from the AMS and the waff in the first 2 semesters. From the 3rd semester onwards, the students work two days a week in a Vienna kindergarten and already earn over EUR 2,000 per month.

The “CHANGE” college with training starts in February and September 2024 offers training positions for:

communicative and committed people who want to actively and creatively shape educational processes with children, language talents with very good knowledge of German, career changers who have been looking for a meaningful field of work for a long time, people who have completed a high school diploma, vocational school leaving certificate or university entrance qualification test.

Applications are possible from January 19th.

School for assistant teachers

This form of training offers the opportunity to actively shape children’s educational processes in kindergarten without a high school diploma. The students receive financial support from the AMS and waff during their training period.

The 3-year training to become an assistant teacher starting in September 2023 is aimed at:

People with a variety of languages and very good knowledge of German, communicative people with the desire to actively shape children’s educational processes together with kindergarten teachers, working people with a desire for a change, people returning to work and job seekers.

Applications are possible from January 19th to June 7th.
