World Central Kitchen resumes operations in the Gaza Strip

Gaza – The World Central Kitchen organization announced the resumption of its work in the Gaza Strip for the first time since the beginning of this April, which witnessed the death of 7 of its employees as a result of an Israeli bombing that targeted their car.

The organization said in a statement yesterday, Sunday: “World Central Kitchen resumes its operations in Gaza. We still mourn and grieve the loss of seven of our friends and colleagues who were killed in an Israeli army attack on the Gaza Strip on April 1.”

The organization noted that “the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains tragic,” stressing “the resumption of operations with the same energy, dignity, and focus on feeding the largest possible number of people.”

The organization indicated that the Israeli army apologized for the attack, which it described as a “serious mistake,” stressing that it “had changed the rules of work.”

The organization explained that “although there are no concrete guarantees, it will continue to search for answers and advocate for change, with the aim of providing better protection for its employees and all non-governmental organization workers who humbly serve in the worst humanitarian conditions.” Our demand for an impartial and international investigation still stands.”

On April 3, the organization confirmed, “7 of our employees were killed in an Israeli strike on the Gaza Strip, while our team was leaving a warehouse in Deir al-Balah, despite coordination with the Israeli army.” According to the organization, the dead were from “Australia, Poland, the United Kingdom, and dual citizens of the United States, Canada, and Palestine.”

Media reports reported that an Israeli drone targeted volunteers in the village of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, while they were moving in a car. For its part, the Israeli army described the Israeli raid in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of members of a non-governmental organization, as a “grave mistake.”
