The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has opened an investigation into the incident of the famous Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe, nicknamed “Salt Chef” and others “without permission” entering the stadium following the World Cup final match in Qatar.

The famous Turkish chef was photographed holding and kissing the World Cup while celebrating with the Argentine players following their victory over France.

FIFA rules say the trophy can only be held by a “highly selected” group of people, including tournament winners, FIFA officials and heads of state.

A FIFA spokesperson said in a statement to BBC Sport: “Following a review, FIFA is working to determine how unauthorized individuals entered the pitch following the Closing Ceremony at Lusail Stadium on 18 December.”
