World Hunger Day: crises and malnutrition

On the occasion of World Hunger Day, we are addressing the issue of the consequences of political, economic and societal conflicts and crises on the food security of populations. According to a UNICEF report, since 2020, the number of pregnant and breastfeeding women suffering from acute malnutrition has increased by 25% in the 12 countries most severely affected by the global food crisis: Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Chad and Yemen.

War in Ukraine, drought, political instability… We give the floor to doctors and humanitarian actors who work with populations weakened by these crises, as part of programs to fight against malnutrition.

Laetitia Defoico-founder of l’association Drepacare and patient-expert tells us about these recommendations made to improve the inclusion of patients and the management of sickle cell disease in France.
