The Sports Ministry has set up an oversight committee to probe the sex allegations against National Wrestling Federation president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The day-to-day operations of the federation will also be overseen by a five-member committee headed by Marycom. The committee comprises wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, former badminton player Thripti Murgunde, former TOPS CEO Rajagopalan and former Sai executive director Radhika Sriman. Earlier, in a discussion with the players, the Union Sports Minister had assured that a committee would be appointed to investigate the allegations.

The committee should complete the inquiry within four weeks. This committee will take detailed statements from the players who made the allegations. An explanation will be sought from the wrestling federation officials. Vinesh Phogat and other top stars protested at Jantarmandar, raising serious allegations of sexual harassment against the president and coaches of the Wrestling Federation of India. 66-year-old Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is a BJP MP from Kaisarganj constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, National Wrestling Federation General Secretary VN Prasud reiterated yesterday that no complaints have been received from women wrestlers.
