On June 3rd was WSG Tyrol-Long-term coach Thomas Silberberger 50 years young… three weeks later he celebrated SK Hippach his 50s party and had the ADMIRAL Bundesliga club as guest of honour. The Silberberger protégés thanked them with a 12-0 friendly win. On Saturday the Watteners will continue in Ried im Zillertal.

What do WSG head coach Thomas Silberberger and SK Hippach have in common? Both are “built in 1973” and are therefore 50 years young. In the test match against the club from the regional league east, the Bundesliga club provided the first highlights at the 50s party from SK Hippach after three hard days of preparation with 12 goals.

It was the first test canter of the Wattener after a rather short summer break. The first show of the old and new players, who wanted to leave their mark with an impressive performance at the beginning of the season in Thomas Silberberger’s prefrontal cortex, i.e. in that part of the brain that is decisive for the (personal) decisions of the head coach falls in the future.

One or the other should have succeeded in the 12-0 win over the club from the Tyrolean regional league east. Youngster Justin Forst, for example, who made it clear in his first appearance of the season with three direct hits that he is ready to take the next step up the career ladder.

Or Mahamadou Diarra, the 19-year-old test player from Mali, who contributed three arguments for his commitment in the second 45 minutes of the game. And Luca Kronberger, the first newcomer, who did what was expected of him twice at the beginning of the season in the Zillertal. He scored the first goal just seven minutes after coming on.

Although not only the number of goals at the 50th anniversary of SK Hippach made the hearts of football fans beat faster. The comeback of playmaker Sandi Ogrinec after a long injury break was of a quality that created a party atmosphere and made you want more as the game progressed.

Next Saturday (5:30 p.m.), Müller & Co. will be back in the Zillertal for the second practice canter at the sports field in Ried.
