Paul Heyman opens the show backstage and says that “Smackdown” is blessed with the presence of Roman Reigns and that fans will have a chance to pay tribute to him.
It switches to Ronda Rousey, who says that Sonya Deville has abused her power for too long and reminds her that “Smackdown” is more than just the name of the show.
Sonya Deville gives a short backstage promo where she talks about her power of the party.
The Viking Raiders will also hold a short backstage promo. They talk about challenging The Usos for the Smackdown Tag Titles. Jimmy & Jey Uso are also doing a short promo.
Ricochet says Sami Zayn will no longer be called an Intercontinental Champion after tonight’s show. Sami Zayn also has his say. He explains that Ricochet will figure out why they call him the master strategist and greatest IC champion in history.
Now the commentators Michael Cole & Pat McAfee welcome us to today’s show, because the first match of the evening is on the program.

Ricochet won against Sami Zayn (c) via pin after a Frankensteiner after Johnny Knoxville caused a distraction –> title change!

We see clips of Vince McMahon’s appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. He announced that he will induct Undertaker into the Hall of Fame and offered McAfee a match at WrestleMania 38.
Backstage, Sami Zayn throws a tantrum as Johnny Knoxville stalks him. Zayn challenges Knoxville to a match at WrestleMania 38.
Now we see Austin Theory, who describes himself as a protégé of Vince McMahon. Wherever Mr. McMahon goes, Austin Theory goes too. Once in the ring, Theory wonders why McMahon appeared on McAfee’s show. McMahon knows McAfee is a loudmouth and everyone wants him to shut up. Theory goes to the announce table and announces that he’s Pat McAfee’s opponent at WrestleMania 38! After these words, Theory McAfee knocks down the headphones. Theory then retreats while an angry McAfee yells at him to come back.
Sasha Banks & Naomi talk about competing at WrestleMania 38 for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. But today Naomi will meet Carmella in a singles match. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match is confirmed for day two of “Mania.”
2. Match

Naomi (w/ Sasha Banks) defeated Carmella (w/ Queen Zelina) via pin after a split-leg moonsault

– Queen Zelina tried to intervene on behalf of Carmella, but was prevented by Sasha Banks.
While Naomi & Sasha Banks celebrate the win, we see Natalya backstage who has obviously been watching it all closely.
Backstage, “Happy” Corbin and Madcap Moss are playing poker with a group of people. Corbin says Drew McIntyre is one hell of a WrestleMania 38 opponent. However, he also points out that he won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and beat Kurt Angle at WrestleMania.
3. Match
Singles Match
Drew McIntyre defeated Jinder Mahal via a pin from the claymore kick.

After the match, McIntyre is interviewed by Kayla Braxton. She asks the Scot if he minds that Corbin and Moss are enjoying themselves at his expense. McIntyre replies that he doesn’t care about her, nobody does. McIntyre challenges the viewers to show with their hands who wants to gouge out Corbin’s eyes when he is on screen. McIntyre also gets Braxton to raise her hand. McIntyre points out that while Corbin is undefeated as Happy Corbin, he will knock him out at WrestleMania.
Back in the poker room, Madcap Moss tells another bad joke. Meanwhile, Corbin stares spellbound at the TV screen.
“Monday Night RAW” features a statement from Edge after his attack on AJ Styles and a 3-way tag team match for the RAW Tag Team Championship between Seth Rollins & Kevin Owens, RK-Bro and Alpha Academy.
Rick Boogs now comes onto the stage to play the Shinsuke Nakamura theme. However, the two are attacked by the Usos and knocked out with super kicks.
WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman then enter the hall. There is some posing in the ring, then Reigns takes the floor. He says he and Brock Lesnar will both defend their titles at Madison Square Garden. He will crush every opponent, just like he has done in the last year and a half. Lesnar’s title defense is where things get interesting. Not all of us want to see Lesnar defend his title or make it to WrestleMania. Reigns, however, wants Lesnar to make it to WrestleMania and then hand over the WWE Championship to him there. Reigns asks Heyman about the spell he’s using. Heyman says it’s not a prediction but a spoiler. Reigns asks Heyman if they should give Miami and the world a spoiler. At WrestleMania 38, the biggest Main Event of all time, he wants to crush Brock Lesnar. He will pin Brock Lesnar and stand over him. He will hoist both titles over his head at a fireworks display worth about five million dollars and Lesnar will then have to acknowledge him.

WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship
Tag Team Match
The Usos (Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso) defend the title against The Viking Raiders (Ivar & Erik) via pin on Erik after the one and done.

Big E & Kofi Kingston now make their way to the ring, as does Sheamus & Rich Holland. Sheamus and Big E are supposed to clash, but Holland knocks Kingston down with a chair before “attacking” Big Es ATV with the chair as well. Meanwhile, Sheamus works on Big E before the Heels drive the ATV out of the hall. Backstage, they then destroy the ATV with sledgehammers.
Johnny Knoxville is interviewed backstage by Kayla Braxton. Knoxville says the only reason he’s showing up here is to remind Sami Zayn that he’s the Intercontinental Champ. He’s exposed his body to more crazy things than Zayn can even imagine. If Zayn thinks he’s afraid to face him at WrestleMania 38, he’s wrong. Knoxville accepts the challenge!
Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss are now playing darts in their poker room. Corbin is about to pull out the darts when McIntyre sticks his sword into the dartboard, causing the heels to flee.
Michael Cole announces Big E & Kofi Kingston vs. Sheamus & Ridge Holland and Sasha Banks vs. Queen Zelina matches for next week’s Smackdown.
Charlotte Flair joins the commentators for the Main Event.
5. Match
Singles Match
Ronda Rousey defeated Sonya Deville via submission in an armbar.
Match time: 03:15
Ronda Rousey challenges Charlotte Flair to enter the ring after the match. The Smackdown Women’s Champion complies and soon finds himself in an ankle lock. Flair taps out before the show ends.
