Joining today’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown from the birthplace of WWE ThunderDome, Michael Cole joins the ring to announce that his commentary partner Pat McAfee has signed a new long-term deal with the leader. The former NFL punter makes his way into the ring to join Cole to applause from the crowd to the SmackDown theme song. He’s happy to be here and immediately apologizes that fans had to put up with Corey Graves last week. He also talks about Baron Corbin, after which a review of the past edition is played. Back in the arena, Pat continues to taunt Corbin and promises to beat Happy’s silly tattoos off his body at SummerSlam. Corbin speaks up via a clip on the Titantron and decides that McAfee would have been better off sticking with football. He also has monkeypox and has to stay away for safety reasons. Pat, however, thinks this is a lame excuse, so he moves on to the next item of the day and announces WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan.

1. Match
Championship Contenders Singles Match
Liv Morgan defeated Natalya via a pin after the Oblivion.
Match time: 09:04

The victorious champion is interviewed after the match by Kayla Braxton, who thinks Ronda Rousey is a very different opponent from Natalya. However, Liv is not concerned about this. She has been the underdog all her life, but she will leave SummerSlam as the reigning Queen of SmackDown.

Behind the scenes, Paul Heyman bursts into an interview with Theory. The word scammer tries to get the selfie fanatic to work together if he doesn’t redeem his Money In The Bank suitcase for Reigns at SummerSlam. In return, Theory received a widely advertised money match against the “Tribal Chief” for his title. If he exits the Premium Live Event as an Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, he may need legal counsel and then the former United States Champion may get in touch with Heyman. The New Day arrive disguised as Viking Raiders, but after the two explain themselves, Xavier Woods sounds more like a pirate than a Viking. However, this is due to the fact that Woods is not particularly good at imitating accents. In preparation, they watched all the Thor films and played Assassin’s Creed excessively. The real Viking Raiders then come out, making it clear they are in fact “New & Vicious” only to be called stupid by The New Day. The Faces sound a horn, prompting Jinder Mahal and Shanky to take care of the Vikings. Backstage, Gunther is beside himself with Ludvig Kaiser’s embarrassing loss to Shinsuke Nakamura. Kaiser will face off against the “King Of Strong Style” again next week, but now the WWE Intercontinental Champion tells his protégé to take off his track jacket, so the ring general gives Kaiser some juicy chops. Today we also get a look back at Lacey Evans heel turn before the self-confident lady wants to go to the ring. Since the audience reactions don’t usually live up to her high expectations, she simply starts her entry all over again. Evans, meanwhile, was supposed to be up against Aliyah, but the veteran, who was scorned by the public, didn’t bother to get her hands dirty and disappeared back behind the curtain. The next card change follows immediately, because Sheamus lets buddy Ridge Holland represent him in the following match. While the officials and Drew McIntyre are still confused by the situation, the biting Butch rings the ring bell.

2. Match
Singles Match
Drew McIntyre defeated Ridge Holland (w/ Sheamus & Butch) via pin after the claymore kick, which was preceded by white noise.
Match time: 03:25
– During the match, the Brawling Brutes repeatedly tried to exploit their numerical superiority and distract the Scotsman. Drew McIntyre resorted to Sheamus’ move repertoire for his head plays in return.

Brock Lesnar’s show of force at Theory and Alpha Academy at last year’s edition of RAW is highlighted with a longer video recap.

Now behind the curtain, Paul Heyman intercepts Madcap Moss, who is ready to enter the ring. Heyman tries to wear Madcap down and talk him into a deal with the same tactics and words. Specifically, Paul E. Dangerously refers to Moss attacking Happy Corbin, who was then out of action for many weeks. If only this would happen in theory! Madcap Moss laughs and tells Heyman he must be really worried about Theory and his Money In The Bank contract. A promotional video by the renowned Maximum Male Models agency advertises the big reveal of fashion visionary Max’s new beachwear collection, in the presence of his sister Maxxine Dupri!

3. Match
Singles Match
Madcap Moss defeated Theory via DQ after Theory hit Madcap Moss with the Money In The Bank suitcase.
Match time: 11:34

After a commercial break, Theory renews his vows to redeem the suitcase at WWE SummerSlam to music by honorary Uso Sami Zayn. The Canadian comes out with his arm bandaged and rages straight at the porter. Sami sees the Bloodline’s pride offended and asks Theory to officially apologize, but since he doesn’t feel threatened, Theory dismisses Zayn’s proposal with a smile. The coming entrance theme of the Usos makes him reconsider his words, but he hardly gets this time because now Madcap Moss seems to have tasted blood too and is pushing him over the ring barricade.

4. Match
Singles Match
Angelo Dawkins (w/ Montez Ford) defeated Jimmy Uso (w/ Jay Uso) via pin to Sky High.
Match time: 07:00
– Jimmy’s shoulder was clearly up on the goal-leading pin, which was also loudly criticized by commentators McAfee and Cole.

Adam Pearce now takes the stage, but instead of addressing the controversy that has just erupted, he announces the special guest referee for the undisputed WWE World Tag Team Championship match at the “biggest party of the summer,” the nightmare of die-hard TNA fans Fans, Jeff Jarrett. SLAPNUTS! The competing teams are unimpressed by this revelation and prefer to fight until the show goes off-air.
