“Elon has been talking about X, the app of everything, for a long time. The rebrand really represented a liberation from Twitter that allowed us to evolve beyond an inherited mindset and thinking. It’s going to change the whole way we gather, how we entertain, how we transact all on one platform.”

Journalist Sara Eisen insisted on the theme with Yaccarino and questioned the power of the Twitter brand and compared it to Johnson & Johnson changing the name to Band-Aid. The executive reaffirmed that the brand change is essential for the new platform concept.

Yaccarino also said he has “autonomy” to run X and that Musk has his own roles, adding that advertisers should feel free to return to the platform. Twitter saw a drop in ads after the sale to Elon.

Hate speech and potentially illegal content proliferated in the days and weeks after Musk took control of the platform. Brands weren’t willing to risk their images appearing alongside troubling publications.

Finally, Yaccarino commented on the new competitor of the X, the Threads. The executive stated that “you cannot take your eyes off any competition”, but also highlighted that she saw Meta’s network engagement has dropped since launch more agitated.
