Iliad and its owner Xavier Niel have not given up any of their ambitions in telecoms in Italy. A little less than two years following being rejected for the first time by Vodafone, the French entrepreneur has just formulated a new marriage offer with the Italian subsidiary of the British group.
The founder of Free is this time proposing to value Vodafone Italia for 10.45 billion euros and to carry out a 50-50 merger between his target and his local entity, Iliad Italia. A purchase option is also suggested to allow Iliad Italia to acquire an additional 10% of the capital of the new entity each year, therefore allowing the possibility of a full takeover in the medium term.
