Xbox: you can now repair your controller yourself

Microsoft is selling official spare parts for its Xbox controllers. Enough to allow DIY enthusiasts to repair their accessories themselves.

You need to repair your Xbox controller and you feel like a handyman? Microsoft thinks of you. The firm now makes available, on son siteofficial parts to allow you to change certain parts.

As a reminder, last June, Microsoft already allowed Surface PC owners to buy spare parts. Today, it is therefore the turn of Xbox wireless controllers and Xbox Elite Controller Series 2. It remains to be seen whether the company intends to systematize the process.

Some of the available parts include case tops, spare buttons, and even printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). The whole being generally quite accessible, knowing that the parts are supplied with a one-year guarantee.

Speaking of warranty, Microsoft points out that purchasing these parts is only for controllers that are out of warranty. « These types of repairs require moderate technical skill and are suitable for enthusiasts, professionals, or those with prior electronic disassembly experience”says the firm.

Despite everything, the giant is also thinking of fans of the Do It Yourself (DIY). Or “do it yourself”, in French. Several official tutorials are available on YouTube, as well as fichiers PDF.
