Where is the power limit of mobile phone wired fast charging? Xiaomi gave a new answer today. Taking advantage of MWC, they demonstrated a new 300W wired charging solution.According to the officialTest video, a “Magic Modification” Redmi Note 12 Pro+ with a built-in 4,100mAh battery was charged to 50% in just 2 minutes and 12 seconds after it was plugged in. When it is close to 5 minutes, the mobile phone has been fully charged, which is almost double the speed of the high-power solutions that have been mass-produced on the market.
According to Xiaomi, in order to achieve such power, they used 15C ultra-high rate cells and a new “sandwich” stacking scheme. A new hard carbon material is introduced into the battery to replace part of the graphite. The mixed hard carbon and graphite negative electrode mixed in a specific ratio can provide faster reaction speed while taking into account high energy density, thus breaking through the bottleneck of charging speed. . The “sandwich” structure consisting of two ultra-thin cells on the upper and lower sides and a phase-change heat dissipation material filled in the middle can achieve stronger heat dissipation and higher space utilization.
It is worth mentioning that the 300W GaN charger used in this solution is “exactly the same” in size as Xiaomi’s previous 210W charger. Its planar transformer adopts a modular design with a higher degree of integration, and at the same time, it also adds a large area of graphene to assist heat dissipation on the basis of glue filling and heat soaking. At present, Xiaomi has not revealed whether this solution will eventually be mass-produced. If it comes true, it will undoubtedly be revolutionary in improving the charging experience.
