In conversation with BioBioChile, Ximena talked about her career and short-term ideas, which combine continuing to show her work in the main cities.

In this sense, its first is to continue practicing in alliance with national artisans and entrepreneurs.

“It is the art of the trade, of the manual trade. The trade, the craftsmanship that haute couture has. The idea is to bring it to the present. Basically it is that, and it’s good that that continues to be done, because by God, how craftsmanship is dying in every aspect,” he explained.

“Trades are being lost, technology is not perfect. I don’t disagree with technology, but for God’s sake, let’s not lose focus, In other words, let’s go at the same time,” he adds.

He even emphasizes that, as a teacher: “I am guiding our students so that they not only go through the area of technology, but also go through the area of trade, so that they do not get lost. I am a precursor of know-how. And that is what I also try to teach in the classes I am teaching at my university.”

In the conversation, the designer assures that both Paris and New York are cities that she is obsessed with in the field of fashion, basically because of how different they are.

Olavarría has managed to bring his designs to the main city in the United States, where he recognizes that he has had different sensations.

“I went to New York last year. “My experience was controversial, it was good because I got feedback in comparison to Paris,” points out.

“I presented works for Fashion Week. But this year I won’t be able to, because I’m committed to work, There are red carpets, I work with Antonia Zegers, Denise Rosenthal, I am also a teacher. It is likely that next year I will return,” he adds.

However, in the same conversation she maintains that she continues to feel more attracted to the fashion capital of Europe.

“It is difficult to say without hurting people’s feelings, because Paris and New York are like oil and water. “Paris is very classic, while the United States is much more color, more flavor,” she asserts.

“New York is a catwalk with a lot of lighting, you see girls of all colors. Instead, you pass through the Champs Elysées (Paris) and v“It’s wonderful girls with suits, purses, everything very small, neat, without extensions, everything very loaded, but it’s still less visual,” he adds.

“I couldn’t say that I choose one over the other, although I did go crazy in Paris, I saw my dresses in Paris. But New York has everything else, because the cultures differ and they intertwine,” he emphasizes.

Likewise, she is also clear in maintaining that there is a pending task for Latin American designers, in terms of making their work known.

“I believe that each artist, designer, presents according to his feelings, emotions, and captures it in the clothing and in the icon that will show his design. “Everything he has in mind,” exclaims

“It is a coming and going of the emotions of each designer. Currently there is a lot of concern about issues such as makeup, hair, nails, etc., perhaps there should be more presence of Latin American artists in big cities,” he concluded.
