Yancon talks about his first meeting with Kohler.. and his impressions of Fyler and Musimani

Al-Ahly goalkeeper coach Michel Yancon spoke about the first meeting between him and Marcel Koller, the new coach of the Red Genie, as well as his impressions of Rene Weiler and Pitso Mosimane, the team’s former coaches.

Koller said in official statements: “In the first meeting with Koller, we spoke in the German language that I know, especially since I spent a period in Germany, and the talk was about goalkeepers in the team, and Koller inquired about the club, the players and life in Egypt in general.”

Regarding his impressions of Fyler and Musimani, he said: “There is no special impression, as they both work in a distinct way that is completely different from the other’s. Fyler has his own style, and so does Musimani. For me, I am in the service of the club and my work with goalkeepers.”

He continued, “I did not think about evaluating or judging anyone. I am only paying attention to my work in the club. Working in Al-Ahly is not easy because you are required to win all matches, and it is the largest club in Africa and there are a lot of pressures that will face you, and the more experience you have, you will succeed in dealing with these The pressures. In addition, my relationship with the goalkeepers and any coach is very good.”

Yancon moved to talk about his time in the youth sector at Al-Ahly Club, where he said: “I spent an unparalleled time, about two months, during which I got to know wonderful personalities and it was an opportunity to talk to them about training and work methods.”

He stated: “In the beginning it was not easy at all. When you are used to a certain way of working and someone suddenly comes and demands to change some things, of course it is a difficult matter, but they started to know my method and follow my advice, and I would like to thank them for their warm and friendly reception and all the facilities they provided me with. “.

He added, “We discussed a lot about everything about football and had a lot of meetings, so I think the experience was excellent. Now I know all the goalkeepers, even the youngest ones, as well as the coaches without exception, which is a very good thing especially for the future and we will continue to hold meetings to learn more about all things.”

He continued: “It is not possible to make a change in a month or two, but we have made a lot of effort and we need more time, of course, and we are on the right path. To accept change and transfer experiences, so I told them at the beginning that we are all working for Al-Ahly and our only goal is to raise the level of goalkeepers.”

On the future of Al-Ahly goalkeeper, he said: “I noticed in all teams and age groups the presence of talented goalkeepers, and we must improve their technical level to get them to the best performance, and to do that there is still a great deal of work, and they are already ready for that, and we will continue to do I worked, but I saw clear talents among the junior ranks.”

On the mechanism of his work, he said: “The psychological factor is very important, I work in different ways here, and this is what I conveyed to the youth sector. Work must be good at the psychological and technical level, and there are new and advanced techniques in the world of training, we are working to keep pace with them to raise the level of goalkeepers.” And in Al-Ahly we are always keen to keep up with everything new in training, because it is one of the largest clubs in the world.”

And he added: “We are currently on the right path, and we will continue to work in this regard. The goalkeeper must be complete, and do everything well. The advanced goalkeeper must be good at playing with his left and right feet with good long and short passing skills, As well as knowing how to deal with high balls, and the ability to talk to his teammates.”

Yancon concluded: “That is why the role of the goalkeeper is so important in modern football, it must be comprehensive, and for that to happen there is a lot of work that the goalkeeper has to do, he must be very strong mentally. On the line, to get the ball out, but now it’s completely different, so there’s a lot of work to do.”
